Doncaster Rovers extended their unbeaten run to eight games as Alfie Beestin scored an equaliser deep into stoppage time in a 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe United.

Doncaster looked to be heading for a first defeat since December after trailing to a Tom Hopper goal in just the third minute of the game. After coming from 2-0 down at Shrewsbury Town on Saturday to claim a point, Doncaster once again showed a never day attitude, and Beestin earned them a point with a powerful header in the sixth minute of injury time.

Hopper gave Scunthorpe an early lead after a mistake from Doncaster goalkeeper Ian Lawlor. The Doncaster keeper missed the ball with an attempted clearance and Hopper had the easy task of passing the ball into an empty net.

Scunthorpe dominated for long periods and they will wonder how they didn`t claim the three points. Hakeeb Adelakun hit the bar with a corner, Neal Bishop went close and Josh Morris had a shot saved. Scunthorpe also had strong claims for a penalty turned down when Lawlor looked to have fouled Hopper after once again making an hash of his clearance but referee Eddie Ilderton waved away the Scunthorpe appeals.

Doncaster struggled to gain any control in the game but they threw everything at Scunthorpe after the fourth official indicated eight minutes of injury time.

A succession of corners finally saw Doncaster claim their point when Beestin, who only scored his first league goal earlier this month, headed into the bottom corner to the delight of the Doncaster fans behind the goal.
