Doncaster Rovers poor end to the season finished with a 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

Will Grigg scored his 26th goal of the season for Wigan with just 15 minutes remaining to clinch the League One title for the second time in three seasons.

The defeat for Doncaster means they have finished the season without a win in their last six games and they have failed to score in their final five games of the season.

Wigan came into the game only needing a point to wrap up the title and they seemed content to play out a goalless draw on a warm afternoon.

The visitors did have the best first-half chances with Sam Morsy, Gavin Massey, Michael Jacobs and Grigg all forcing Marko Marosi into saves.

Grigg won the game for Wigan when he was played through on goal by Nick Powell and the Northern Ireland international made no mistake as he slid the ball past Marosi.

Doncaster had no answer as they failed to produce a shot on target for the second time in three games as they finished the season with a whimper.
