Doncaster Rovers manager Darren Ferguson was delighted to see his side earn a point with a late equaliser but he was frustrated with the performance at Scunthorpe United.

Alfie Beestin scored a 96th minute equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe United having trailed in the game for almost the full 90 minutes having conceded a 3rd minute goal.

Scunthorpe had a number of chances to clinch the three points before Doncaster scored their equaliser deep into stoppage time to extend their unbeaten run to eight games but Ferguson admitted he was not happy with many aspects of the performance.

“I`m delighted to get a point because when you go into the last minute of a game losing, you have to be,” Ferguson told BBC Radio Sheffield.

“Lots of the performance frustrated me.

“The start of the game was always going to be important; I felt the first goal was going to be important.

“We dug in and we have showed a great resolve to not lose a game of football, credit to my players for that. We showed great character and belief that we can always get something from the game.

“I am not going to be doing cartwheels about it because I feel there is still more in the tank.”

Tom Hopper fired Scunthorpe into an early lead after a mistake from Doncaster goalkeeper Ian Lawlor.

Lawlor raced out of his box to clear the ball but could only kick thin air and Hopper had the easy task of rolling the ball into an empty net.

It was an uncomfortable night for Lawlor who looked unsettled after the goal and Scunthorpe had strong claims for a penalty waved away when he looked to have fouled Hopper in the area.

Doncaster hung on in the game and a final flurry saw them equalise deep into stoppage time when Beestin directed his header into the bottom corner of the net.

The point for Doncaster lifts them one place to eleventh in League One.
