Doncaster Rovers manager Darren Ferguson says he doesn`t expect Andy Butler or Issam Ben Khemis to play again this season.

The pair were both forced off in the draw at Shrewsbury Town at the weekend and they saw specialists on Monday.

Ferguson says the early prognosis is not good and he cannot see either playing again this season.

“Ben is out for the season. He will definitely be out for the season and Butler is almost pretty much out for the season,” Ferguson told BBC Radio Sheffield.

“If I am being really optimistic, we are looking at ten weeks for Butler.

“He is seeing someone in London on Wednesday but he has damaged his MCL and a bit of his cartilage.

“Ben took a heavy challenge and he has damaged three or four of his ligaments.”

Ferguson was dealt another injury blow in the draw with Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night when defender Mathieu Baudry was forced off with a hamstring injury.

Craig Alcock replaced Baudry in defence. The former Sheffield United defender was due to go out on loan this week but he will now remain at the club and Ferguson will also be looking to add to his squad before the transfer window next Wednesday.

One piece of good news is Luke McCullough and Alex Kiwomya both continued their comeback from injury with game time in the development squad game against Port Vale on Tuesday. The pair have missed the season so far but with injuries rising, the pairs return comes at a good time for Doncaster.
