Doncaster once again came away with nothing after more than matching their table topping opponents for most of the game.

Rovers were forced into changes due to suspensions to Mills and Woods, Van Nieuwstadt and Stock replacing them in the side whilst Lewis Guy replaced Stuart Elliott in attack.

In a very entertaining game Rovers could have taken the lead when an excellent through ball by Wellens was picked up by Heffernan whose stinging shot was tipped onto the cross bar by Hennessey in the Wolves goal.

Richie Wellens had a couple of chances to give Rovers the lead but was thwarted also by Hennessey.

The most bizarre chance of the first half fell to Wolves, after a corner Andy Keogh hit the bar and post within ten seconds of each other, the ball then fell to a wolves player twelve yards out whose shot was superbly saved by Sullivan, the rebound fell to Kightly whose effort was saved on the line by Stock before that rebound was put over the bar by Keogh much to Rovers relief.

Wolves made a couple of changes at half time but it was Rovers who could have scored first when a corner by Stock was driven to the edge of the box for Wellens to strike on the volley, his effort was tipped around the post but the referee somehow gave a goal kick.

Rovers should then have won a penalty when Guy was clearly pushed to the ground by the Wolves keeper but the referee somehow failed to see this when only ten yards away, once again Rovers were not getting the crucial decisions from the referees.

Wolves got the winner inside the last ten minutes, the third time Rovers have lost inside the last ten minutes in consecutive games. Tomi Ameobi who had recently come off the bench for Rovers made a clumsy tackle and gave away a free kick, from the resulting free kick Collins got his head to the ball to steer it into an empty net with Sullivan rushing out and getting nowhere near the ball.

The goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of Rovers and Wolves created a few chances to extend their lead before the end.

The result sees Rovers stay rooted to the bottom of the table after once again playing well without either scoring goals or getting any of the major decisions in the game. Next up are Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Boxing Day a game Rovers desperately cannot afford to lose.
