Doncaster Rovers produced the perfect response following their disappointing defeat at Walsall in midweek as they won for the first time in 2018.

Doncaster suffered a 4-2 defeat at Walsall in midweek and manager Darren Ferguson rang the changes as he looked for a response from his side as they slipped nearer the bottom end of the table.

Ferguson made five changes to the side that lost at Walsall with Alex Kiwomya making his long awaited first start for the club and there was also rare starts for goalkeeper Marko Marosi and defender Craig Alcock.

Doncaster raced out of the traps and Kiwomya enjoyed his first start for the club with the opening goal on 14 minutes.

Kiwomya was on hand to poke the ball home from close range after Fleetwood failed to clear their lines.

The lead was doubled before the half hour and it was another first goal for the club, as Tom Anderson reacted quickest after Fleetwood keeper Alex Cairns could only parry a John Marquis free-kick.

Any hopes Fleetwood had of making a second half comeback were ended ten minutes after the break when Anderson headed home his second and Rovers third goal of the game.

Doncaster could have won by more with Alfie Beestin twice going close. He forced Cairns into a good save in the first half and he saw an effort comeback off a post in the second half.
