Doncaster Rovers twice led at Portsmouth but they eventually had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw in a game where the home side finished the game with nine-men.

James Coppinger gave Doncaster an early lead but that was cancelled out in the first half by Anton Walkes.

Coppinger fired home with a left foot shot from a tight angle after a powerful run into the Portsmouth area. Coppinger initially tried to play Alfie Beestin in but he then pounced on the loose ball to fire home.

Walkes levelled for the home side when Doncaster failed to deal with a corner and he poked the ball home from close range.

John Marquis then had a goal ruled out for offside as Doncaster as they looked to go ahead again before the break.

Marquis then headed Doncaster into the lead for a second time just past the hour when he was found in space from a Coppinger corner only for Bret Pitman to equalise inside the final ten minutes, when the Portsmouth striker was found in space at the back post.

Portsmouth were then reduced to ten-men when goalkeeper Stephen Henderson was forced off through injury and having used their three substitutes, Kai Naismith replaced him in goal.

In injury time, Christian Burgess was sent off for a second bookable offence for a deliberate handball.

Naismith then denied Doncaster all three points when he saved Ben Whiteman`s shot with his legs.
