Rovers Chuckle At Millers

As predicted, the game was a walk in the park for Rovers. From the off it was clear that there was a huge difference in the ability of the two sides. Rovers looked keen, positive, quick and sharp. Rotherham looked shaky, unable to kick the ball in a straight line and it was of no surprise when Rovers opened the scoring after only six minutes. A good ball to Neil Roberts allowed the striker to score his first of the season by placing a shot beyond the hapless Rotherham keeper. To the delight of the Rovers fans, Rovers doubled their lead minutes later. Coppinger hit a speculative shot into the box and, with the Millers’ defence completely clueless, Sean Thornton was on hand to blast the ball in the net.

Rovers then switched off when Rotherham’s best player (who’s not even theirs) Forte turned on the speed and beat keeper Alan Blayney to get one back for the Millers. The visitors hopes of a revival were quickly dashed though when Lewis Guy increased Rovers lead on 21 minutes. Rovers continued to dominate, with Rotherham’s only chance of another goal falling to Forte, but Mulligan blocked at the near post.

The game was over by half time, and when Rovers came out for the second half, it was clear that there was no extra effort needed against such poor opposition. Rovers toyed with the Millers, allowing them a spell of possesion but no chances. Whether it was through frustration or lack of ablity is not known but the Miller’s players started diving into some nasty tackles and Keane was lucky to stay on the field before being subbed. Rovers, playing against the wind this half, did not add to their tally of goals, surely if they had played at full speed it could have been a lot more.

So in all, a good perfomance against a poor Rotherham side who cannot be long for this League surely?
