Doncaster Rovers made one change to the side that beat Peterborough United in midweek.

Quinton Fortune replaced James Hayter in the side.


Dean Shiels who was man of the match on Tuesday score his second goal in two games when he gave Rovers the lead just inside twenty minutes, tapping in after good work from Billy Sharp.

Rovers who had looked good in the first half nearly doubled their lead just past the half hour when Martin Woods effort was finger tipped clear by Harper in the Newcastle goal.

Newcastle should have equalised just before half time when Guiterrez shot over when in a great position.

Andy Carroll then had another chance before the break but his header missed the target.

Newcastle finally equalised half way through the half when Andy Carroll thundered a volley past Neil Sullivan.

Doncaster missed a great chance to retake the lead with fifteen minutes remaining after winning a penalty after a Ryan Taylor handball.

Martin Woods stepped up but sent his shot wide.

Newcastle were reduced to ten men when Khizanishvili is shown a straight red card after a scuffle which also sees Butt from Newcastle and Sharp from Doncaster shown yellow cards.

Doncaster hearts are broken in the second minute of added time when Kevin Nolan curls in a shot from the edge of the area.
