Dave Penney made a number of surprising team selections. Adam Hughes came in for Sean Thornton, whilst Leo Fortune-West replaced Paul Heffernan (suspended). Mark Albrighton started his first game since his awful performance away at Cambridge in the LDV. Sean McDaid and Nick Fenton returned after missing the Rotherham game though suspension. Paul Green and James Coppinger were not included in the match day squad.

First Half

I don’t know where to begin. We were awful. Some players on that performance should never wear a Rovers shirt again. The selection of Hughes in the first place was plainly wrong. We conceded a goal because Foster and Albrighton failed to deal with a long punt down field.

Second Half

It was surprising that no changes were made at half-time, but five minutes after the re-start, Thornton replaced Hughes. Thornton looked busy for the forty odd minutes that he was on for, but never created much. Mulligan was the next to replaced but for some reason, the home fans re-acted by boo-ing. Mulligan had not contributed anything and Rovers needed to eject some pace into the team. Offiong is not the best player at the club, but at least he has some pace which was lacking out there today. Offiong was able to run at the full back and often got the opportunity to cross the ball, sadly at times his delivery was rather poor. Fortune-West was eventually replaced by Neil Roberts. Rovers had chances in the final twenty minutes or so, with Albrighton, Ravenhill, McIndoe and Thornton all having attempts on goal.

Summary

A very bad at the office, some players did not turn up for work.
