Ike Ugbo had given the home side a first-half lead but two second-half goals from John Marquis, his 13th and 14th goals of the season, stretched Doncaster’s unbeaten run to five games, picking up 11 points from a possible 15.
Marquis made the most of a mistake from the MK Dons goalkeeper for his first goal and he smashed home his second just past the hour mark.
Doncaster owed a lot to goalkeeper Marko Marosi who made a number of fine saves to deny MK Dons.
Doncaster still face another six games in 18 days before the end of the season with five of those at home. Bury are first up at the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday night.
