Doncaster travelled to Nottingham Forest in a crucial relegation six pointer.

Matt Mills and Martin Woods returned to the side after suspension and Paul Heffernan continued to lead the attack.

Rovers started the better of the two sides and early efforts from Spicer and Wellens had shots deflected wide.

Doncaster eventually took the lead when a good deep cross was met at the far post by Heffernan who met the ball firmly with a header and into the net.

Rovers were totally dominating the game and it came as no surprise when the lead was extended just after the half hour when Woods superbly chipped the keeper after excellent build up play.

The visitors went into the half time break in dream land when on the stroke of half time a free kick from Wellens deflected off the wall and left the keeper stranded with no chance of saving the shot.

Forest made two substitutes at half time in the hope they may be able to get back into the game, having already made a substitute in the first half their chances were dealt a severe blow when they were reduced to ten men when one of the substitutes Julian Bennett limped off within the first five minutes of the second half restarting.

Rovers continued to completely dominate the second half and it came as no surprise when Paul Heffernan scored his second of the afternoon, after Stocks effort was cleared off the line Heffernan was there to head in the rebound.

That goal meant Rovers climbed above Forest on goal difference but that was to be short lived, Mills sloppily gave the ball away and Tyson`s cross was deflected into his own net by Sam Hird.

Forest started to get into the game a little more and Earnshaw had an effort hit the bar.
At the other end Rovers also hit the woodwork when Hird`s header was deflected onto the post.

Forest reduced the deficit even further when after poor Rovers defending Joe Garner poked in from five yards.

The full time whistle went to the delight of the Rovers following.

Rovers have finally managed to find the back of the net which they have been threatening all season, it`s the first time that Rovers have managed to score more than one goal in a game this season. Before kick off Rovers had only managed eleven goals all season and the fact that Paul Heffernan is getting a run in the side could be the answer to Rovers goal worries.

The result takes Rovers level on points with Nottingham Forest and only one point from safety.
Up next comes Burnley at The Keepmoat Stadium in only two days time with their confidence sky high after this victory.
