The Football League have announced a new sponsorship deal for the start of the 2010/11 season with energy firm npower.

npower have agreed a three year sponsorship deal and the leagues will be titled npower Championship, npower League One and npower League Two.

The three year deal is reportedly worth £21 million to the Football League.

The new deal signals an end of a six-year association with drinks giants Coca Cola whose deal finishes at the end of this season.

Reports suggest that the Football League turned down a more lucrative deal with a gambling firm because they did not feel it was a suitable association.
