Young Doncaster Rovers striker Wade Fairhurst had mixed feelings after making his first start and scoring his first goal for the club in the 3-1 defeat at West Brom.

The 20 year old who signed a new two year contract with the club in the summer, scored within seven minutes in his first start after being drafted into the side after a injury to James Coppinger on the morning of the game.

Speaking on RoversWorld, Fairhurst said “I`m glad I got my goal, hopefully the fans have seen me now and are impressed with me.

It was good to get my goal, pity about the result.”

Fairhurst who came through Rovers Youth team, made three substitute appearances for the first team last season and will now be hoping to build on his first start and goal.
