Doncaster Rovers Belles have appointed former Doncaster Rovers midfielder and Leeds United and Rotherham United manager Neil Redfearn as their new head coach.

Redfearn had a short playing career at Doncaster, making over 50 appearances at the club during the 1984/85 season in a career that saw him make over 1000 senior appearances.

His managerial career saw him have short spells with Halifax Town, Scarborough and Northwich Victoria before he joined the Leeds United academy where he took charge of the youth set up.

Redfearn had four spells in charge of Leeds, three as a caretaker manager. He spent most of the 2014/15 season in charge of Leeds before departing the club in the summer.

He was last in charge of Rotherham United during the 2015/16 season but he left after just four-months in charge with the side struggling in the Championship.

Redfearn arrives at the Belles with the side at the top of the FAWSL2 and he has taken over from interim manager Kate Rowson. Rowson had taken over after previous Belles manager Emma Coates left for a role with the England national side.
