Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov says the withdrawal of Paul Keegan was a precaution and he didn`t want to take a risk with midfielder who has only recently returned from injury.

Keegan was withdrawn at half time after complaining of a thigh injury and Dickov, who has said how influential the midfielder is to the team recently, did not want to take any chances.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Dickov said, “Keegan was feeling his thigh in the first half and it was tightening up. Keegan is a massive player for us, so the last thing we wanted to do was take any risks.”

The 29-year-old has only recently returned to the first team after over two months out through injury and his return has coincided with Rovers four-match unbeaten run.

Dickov will be hoping that Keegan will be fit for the trip to Brighton and Hove Albion next week as Rovers look to continue their revival at the bottom end of the championship.
