Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov says he has signed a fantastic young goalkeeper on loan from Manchester United.
20-year-old Sam Johnstone joined Rovers in the final hours of the January transfer window after first team goalkeeper Ross Turnbull told to rest a troublesome calf injury.
Dickov admits he has been watching the youngster who has represented England at four levels, who is highly rated at Old Trafford.
Dickov told BBC Radio Sheffield, “We have brought in Sam. People will say he is only a young goalkeeper but he is a keeper we have watched for a long time and somebody that Manchester United rate really highly, so we are delighted to have him.
“He has come in, he has kept a clean sheet and he is a fantastic goalkeeper.
Johnstone, who has come through the ranks at Old Trafford, made his debut for Rovers against Middlesbrough on Saturday, keeping his first clean sheet for the club.
The young shot-stopper has joined Rovers on a one-month loan deal.
