Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov says he was delighted with the response of his players following the win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Rovers bounced back from their 5-0 defeat at Bournemouth last weekend with a 2-0 home win over their Yorkshire neighbours.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Dickov said, “I am delighted. I thought the performance from start to finish was fantastic.

“It was I expected from my team, I expected a response and I got it and now we must keep it going.

“It is pleasing getting three points and keeping a clean sheet after conceding five last week.

“I got the reaction what I wanted and it shows me we have character within the team.”

Rovers never looked back after Billy Sharp opened the scoring on 28 minutes. Sharp was returning to the side after serving a three-match suspension and he reacted quickest to a Gabriel Tamas header to steer the ball into the roof of the net.

David Cotterill scored the second ten minutes into the second half as Rovers kept up their good home form in 2014.

With all the teams who played in the bottom five on Saturday winning, it was a crucial three points for Rovers who will hope to keep up their recent record at the Keepmoat when Watford visit on Tuesday night.

Rovers are unbeaten in their five championship home games this year, keeping four clean sheets and picking up eleven points from a possible fifteen.
