According to reports Doncaster Rovers have been giving a trial to midfielder Paul Keegan from Irish league side Bohemians as well as two other players from the League of Ireland.
Keegan spent last week training with Rovers at Cantley Park and is hoping that the trial can lead to a deal, speaking in the Irish paper The Herald, Keegan said, ‘The week went well but I’ve had no indication so far if they want to keep me or not.
‘I think I did okay at Doncaster, I didn’t get to play in a game but I did well in training and didn’t look out of place.”
The 26 year old recently had a trial spell at fellow Championship side Reading but was not offered a contract.
The midfielder was a trainee at Leeds United between 2002-05 and as had a spell in English football before when he had a loan spell at Scunthorpe.
He`s been capped at under 21 level for Ireland and as won league championships with Drogheda and Bohemians.
Keegan is known as a hard working box-to-box midfielder with a good eye for goal.
Rovers are also reported to have been giving trials to Alan Mannus from Shamrock Rovers and John Russell from Sligo Rovers.
Mannus is a Northern Ireland international goalkeeper who has made four appearances for his county.
The 28 year old has been with Shamrock since 2009 having spent nine years at Linfield where he made over 250 appearances.
During his time at Linfield, he was named the Ulster footballer of the year for the 2007/08 season.
Russell is a midfielder who is currently with Sligo Rovers after signing for them earlier this year from Galway.
The 25 year old has been capped by Ireland at under 18, 19, 21 and B international level.
Russell helped Sligo win the FAI cup earlier this month when they beat Shamrock on penalties, who had Alan Mannus in their goal.
