Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll is hoping to extend defender Jason Shackell`s loan till the end of the season when his current loan deal expires after the Leicester City at the end of the month.

Shackell who is on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers as become a popular player amongst the fans and he`s filled the gap in the centre of defence, which was vacated by Matt Mills in August.

Doncaster boss Sean O`Driscoll speaking on the official website said He’s doing very well for us and I think that everybody is now looking at their options. I think that Jason would be delighted to stay for the rest of the season, so who knows what might happen.’

The 26 year old is not expected to feature in the first team at Wolves if he returned, he`s admitted himself he would like to stay and play regular first team football instead of playing for Wolves reserve`s.

The former Norwich defender as made 17 starts for Rovers and scored a single goal against Peterborough in the 3-1 victory in October.
