Doncaster Rovers defender James O`Connor endured a mixed afternoon in the 3-1 win at Scunthorpe United.

O`Connor headed Rovers into a 3-1 lead for his second goal of the season before hobbling off in the final few minutes with a hamstring strain.

The defender looked keen to stay on for the final few minutes with Rovers having already used their three substitutes but the bench called him off to avoid aggravating the injury even further.

Speaking on the official website, O`Connor said, “I was a bit gutted to come off at the end with a slight injury.
“I don`t know how bad it is yet, so fingers-crossed over the next 48 hours, I will be available to play on Tuesday night.”

George Friend was also forced off early in the game with a knee injury to add to Rovers defensive worries.

Rovers are already have a number of defenders on the injured list with James Chambers and Wayne Thomas already out with long term injuries.

Byron Webster has recently come back after a long time out himself and he might need to be pushed into the starting line up if O`Connor and Friend fail to recover in time for the game with Derby County on Tuesday night.
