Doncaster Rovers boss Darren Ferguson was delighted with the performance after his side enjoyed a rare win at Blackpool.

Tommy Rowe was on target twice in the 2-1 win as Doncaster won at Bloomfield Road for only the third time in 25 attempts.

Rowe fired Doncaster ahead just before the break but his effort was cancelled out by Charlie Daniel but Doncaster were not to be denied back-to-back victories for the first time since December when Rowe fired home his second goal of the game from a well-worked free-kick and Ferguson was delighted.

“I`m delighted with the performance and delighted with the result,” Ferguson told BBC Radio Sheffield.

“It is a tough place to come, they hadn`t lost at home for six games.

“I am delighted with the players, they gave everything.”

The win for Doncaster, a third in five games, has lifted them up to 13th in the League One table and they are now nine points above the relegation places.

Doncaster are quickly back in action when they welcome struggling AFC Wimbledon to the Keepmoat Stadium on Monday.

AFC Wimbledon remained just above the relegation places on Friday following a 1-0 home defeat to rejuvenated Fleetwood Town.

Doncaster will be desperate to keep their improvement in form going though, as they look for a strong finish to the season.
