Michael Dilley, Vital Norwich City editor gave us his tips on where to go whilst visiting Carrow Road.
Which Pubs would you recommend for Rovers fans to visit?
I handed this one over to Vital Norwich members to make sure I didn’t give you any duds. Here’s the best of what they said:
The Complete Angler opposite the Railway station & just over the bridge is a designated away pub as far as I remember. Certainly the Coach & Horses is an ok pub for away fans
The Cricketers On Surrey which is near the Kings Arms just around the corner is a Great Football Boozer. (All welcome who behave of course). No need to bring in your own food either as Joe lays on free sandwiches, bar snacks and on most match days a BBQ All Free – big 6oz Burgers and hot-dogs, many of us from Vital use that pub.
Which pubs would you tell Rovers fans to stay well clear of?
The nearest pubs to the ground and on Riverside (near the train station). They usually allow away fans in depending on numbers, but they have been known to refuse entry.
Best places to get food from?
Apart from the food in the Cricketers there are a few restaurants down Riverside, but for me Delia’s Cornish pasties are the best in football.
Can you get a drink inside the ground?
Yes, as long as you don’t mind drinking lager or Worthington’s.
How good is the away end, any obstructions?
Away fans are sat in the Jarrold Stand, which is the newest part of the ground. You get a great view from there and if you’re high enough in the stand you
can look across the city over the City Stand. There aren’t any obstructions at all.
How easy is the ground to find?
Pretty easy I would say. It’s a five-minute walk from the train station, and if you park at County Hall that’s only a 5/10 minute stroll as well.
Best place for away fans to park?
I’d say the best place to park is probably County Hall (it’ll cost you about £3). As I said it’s only a 5/10 minute walk from the ground, but you’ll want to get there a little early as it can take a while to get out.
Do you know how much you charge for away fans admission?
Like most clubs these days it varies depending on what category the game has been given. This game has been classified as Category B I believe, so it’ll probably set you back about £20.
How do you think your season has gone so far?
A little bit all over the place if I’m honest. The general consensus of opinion is that we’ve been doing ok until we get anywhere near the opposition half, but after Wednesday the hope is that we’ve finally found the missing ingredient.
Who is your key player?
At this stage of the season it is almost impossible to tell. Sammy Clingan has been superb since joining from Nottingham Forest in the summer (I think he will go down as possibly one of the best free transfers we’ve ever had), and after Wednesday Leroy Lita must be pretty key for Saturday.
Finally who do you think will win the Championship this season?
I know it’s a fairly dull answer, but I can’t see much passing Birmingham.
