Doncaster Rovers saw their lead at the top of League Two cut to just three points after they went down to a 1-0 defeat at home to Blackpool.

Doncaster had to play most of the second half with ten-men after Matty Blair was shown a second yellow card and the game had a controversial finish with Blackpool being awarded two penalties in the final two-minutes of the game.

Doncaster started the game brightly with Joe Wright, Tommy Rowe and Alfie May both testing Sam Slocombe in the Blackpool goal.

Blackpool thought they had taken the lead when Brad Potts lobbed Marko Marosi in the Doncaster goal but it was ruled out for offside.

The game changed just seven minutes into the second half when referee Carl Boyeson decided to take centre stage. Blair was sent off for Doncaster after he was shown a second yellow card, both decisions looking harsh on the Doncaster man.

Blackpool began to create chances with Nathan Delfouneso testing Marosi.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Mathieu Baudry had an effort cleared off the line.

There then came a dramatic finish to the game. With two-minutes remaining, Boyeson awarded Blackpool their first penalty when Baudry was adjudged to have handled the ball.

Mark Cullen took the penalty but he had to watch on in agony as his spot kick hit the inside of the post and it was eventually cleared.

Moments later, Blackpool were awarded another penalty when Craig Alcock was adjudged to have pulled back Will Aimson in the area. The incident looked just outside the area but Boyeson had no hesitation in pointing to the penalty spot.

Jordan Flores fired home the second spot kick to keep alive Blackpool`s hopes of reaching the play-offs this season whilst the defeat saw Plymouth close the gap on Doncaster at the top of the table to just three points.
