Doncaster Rovers quickly put last weekends heavy defeat at Cardiff City behind them by seeing off Hull City at The Keepmoat 3-1.
Rovers made the perfect start in the opening two minutes when Martin Woods looped a header over Matt Duke in the City goal after a cross into the middle by Coppinger.
Woods almost had his and Rovers second a few minutes later when his free kick was palmed away by Duke.
It wasn`t long before City were level, Robert Koren played through former England international Nicky Barmby who fired past Sullivan.
Oster had a chance to quickly put Rovers back in front but his long-range effort went just wide.
Woods was continuing his battle with Duke in the Hull goal, once again the Rovers midfielder forced the keeper into a save.
Bostock had a chance from long-range for the visitors but Sullivan saved well.
Rovers went back in front just before half time when Billy Sharp sent Duke the wrong way from the spot after a penalty was awarded for handball in the Hull area.
The goal was no more than Rovers deserved from their first half performance as they went in at half time in front.
Brian Stock had an early chance in the second half but his long-range shot went wide of the target.
Hull still carried a threat and little Nicky Barmby saw a header saved by Sullivan.
James Coppinger sealed the win for Rovers with twenty minutes remaining when he volleyed past Duke after some good play.
The goal seemed to ease the pressure off Rovers and Sharp and Coppinger both had chances to extend the lead.
Solano tried to get the visitors back into the game but Sullivan was equal to his shot.
Sullivan was soon in the action again when Simpson`s shot was fired straight at the veteran keeper who reacted well to keep it out.
A bad day was compounded deep into injury time when James O`Connor headed a goal bound Hull effort off the line.
A great performance from Rovers and a well deserved three points to record their first home win of the season.
Despite last weekend`s heavy defeat at Cardiff City, Rovers will be reasonably happy with their return of seven points from a possible twelve in the opening month.
