Doncaster Rovers made a perfect start to life back in League One, with a comprehensive 3-0 opening day win at Walsall.

Rovers boss Dean Saunders gave league debuts to five new signings including Billy Paynter and Jamie McCombe who signed in the last week.

The game also saw two early contenders for the clubs goal of the season after Chris Brown had pounced to put Rovers ahead after five minutes.

David Cotterill doubled Rovers lead halfway through the half with a ‘Beckhamesque` shot from fully forty yards.

Kyle Bennett capped a great opening day win with a superb individual goal early in the second half.

Rovers will now prepare for their opening home League One game of the season against Bury on Tuesday night.
