Rovers secure survival

Doncaster Rovers secured Championship survival with a point in a 1-1 home draw with Leicester City.

Steve Brooker came off the bench at half time for Rovers to score his first goal in an injury ravaged two and half years at the Keepmoat.

Brooker fired home from 25 yards, giving Leicester keeper Chris Weale no chance.

Yakubu equalised from close range for the visitors with fourteen minutes remaining to ensure a draw.

Rovers almost won it late on when Weale got a hand on a Ryan Mason shot to turn it over the bar.

The result proved academic in the end with both Sheffield United and Scunthorpe United failing to win and joining Preston North End in League One next season.

After a turbulent 2011, Rovers will be glad to see the end of the season and they finish their campaign at Middlesbrough next Saturday.
