Rovers recent poor form continued when they were beaten 2-0 at home by Barnsley in a South Yorkshire derby.

Doncaster boss Sean O`Driscoll stuck with the same eleven that had been beaten 3-2 at Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Sharp had an early chance for Rovers but his shot was straight at Steele in the Barnsley goal.

Colace had Barnsley`s first effort on goal but his shot from distance was easy for Sullivan.

Sharp forced Steele into a good save when he turned out the strikers shot for a corner with his legs.

Steele continued to frustrate Sharp and he saved again from the striker soon afterwards.

Sullivan was again called into action when he saved from O`Connor from distance.

Paul Keegan came on to make his debut close to half time, replacing Mark Wilson who had suffered a hamstring injury.

Colace had the first chance of the second half when he forced Sullivan into a save.

The visitors were enjoying a decent start to the second half and Gary O`Connor slid an effort wide after a good ball in by Butterfield.

Barnsley took the lead when Danny Haynes headed past Sullivan after a good cross into the middle.

Substitute O`Brien was causing Rovers all sorts of problems and after some good work, he set up Colace who somehow managed to miss a golden chance to double the lead.

Barnsley doubled the lead on 66 minutes when Haynes got his second of the night when Sullivan couldn`t keep out the strikers shot.

O`Brien almost made it three when his strike went into the side netting.

Rovers frustrating evening was summed up late on when James O`Connor headed over from close range.

Haynes almost completed his hat trick in stoppage time when his effort just went over the bar.

The defeat sees Rovers lose for the third game in a row and starting to look a little nervously over their shoulders.
