Doncaster Rovers let a two goal lead slip at Leeds United and were punished deep into stoppage time when Luciano Becchio scored the winner for the hosts.

Rovers looked like recording just their third away win of the season when substitute Mamadou Bagayoko was on hand to tap home after James Hayter was thwarted on the half hour.

It could have already been 1-0 with Habib Bamogo hitting the post with an outrageous back heel that came back off the post.

Rovers had looked by far the better side in the first half with Rovers goalkeeper David Button having very little to do in the first half.

In the second half, it started much the same and Hayter saw his shot cannon back off the crossbar.

Rovers doubled their ten minutes into the second half when Bagayoko headed in from close range.

Leeds hit back straight away when Andros Townsend beat Button with a low shot.

This did not deter Rovers and they continued to attack with Simon Gillett firing just over the bar.

Leeds were level with just over ten minutes remaining when Adam Clayton fired home from close range to set up a grandstand finish.

The game was help up for a lengthy period just before the 90th minute when Rovers Tommy Spurr and Leeds Robbie Rogers both left the pitch on a stretcher following a clash of heads.

It was Rovers who still looked the more likely to win the game as they pressed the Leeds goal but they were to be heartbroken in the 102nd minute when Becchio fired past Button from the edge of the area.

The defeat leaves Rovers rooted at the foot of the championship table and they will wonder just how they came away from Elland Road with nothing to show for their efforts.
