Doncaster Rovers missed a chance to move into the play off places as they went down 1-0 at Crystal Palace.

Rovers made just the one change to the starting line up from the side that drew with Swansea City last weekend. The fit again Shelton Martis replaced Sam Hird in defence.

James Hayter was looking to score for the sixth game in a row for Rovers and saw two early chances fail to test the keeper.

Sullivan was then forced to make a save from a long range shot from Darren Ambrose.

Sullivan then saved defender Wayne Thomas` blushes when he saved his attempted clearance of the line.

Speroni in the Palace goal was then forced to tip an acrobatic overhead kick from Healy over the bar.

Palace took the lead with just ten minutes of the first half remaining when a defence splitting pass found Pablo Counago and he fired past Sullivan.

Rovers immediately looked for an equaliser, firstly Healy hit the side netting and then Coppinger had a goal disallowed for offside.

Despite the late pressure, Rovers went in at half time one down.

Rovers started the second half strongly and Thomas and Coppinger forced Speroni into saves.

At the other end Counago forced a save from Sullivan and then a combination of the post and the keeper kept out another effort from Zaha.

Billy Sharp was brought on for his first appearance in five games just past the hour as Rovers tried in vain to find an equaliser.

Hayter had Rovers last chance but once again, Speroni kept out his effort.

The defeat leaves Rovers in tenth place and it was also the first time they had failed to score in ten games as it brought to an end a run of four games without defeat.
