Doncaster Rovers made it four away wins in a row for the first time since the 2008/09 season to move into fourth place in League One.

Rovers won 3-1 at Carlisle United thanks to goals from Rob Jones, David Cotterill and a rare goal from Tommy Spurr.

Jones gave Rovers the lead on fourteen minutes when he headed home a Cotterill corner for his third goal of the season.

Within four minutes, Rovers were well in control when Cotterill fired home from outside the area for his sixth goal of the season.

Carlisle got a lifeline halfway through the second half when David Symington scored from a free kick but their hope did not last long when Spurr scored with a header, his first goal for the club.

It was a great night for Rovers with Brentford the only other side in the top eleven winning.

The win moves Rovers to within three points of second placed Sheffield United with a game in hand.

Rovers will now hope to take their away form into the game at the Keepmoat on Saturday when they welcome local rivals Scunthorpe United.
