Chelsea midfielder Jordan Houghton has turned down a permanent deal with Doncaster Rovers but he will remain at the club on loan.

Houghton failed to agree personal terms With Doncaster after the two clubs had agreed a deal to bring him to the Keepmoat Stadium on a permanent deal.

Houghton will be coming back,” Ferguson Told BBC Radio Sheffield.

“We did agree a deal with Chelsea to make it permanent but we couldn`t agree personal terms. It`ll be a loan until the end of the season.

“He loves it here but he wants to continue it as a loan and look at it again in the summer.

“It is probably the most sensible thing.”

Houghton is in his second loan spell with Doncaster having spent last season on loan at the club until a knee injury forced his return to Stamford Bridge.

He returned in August on a short-term loan deal until January and he will now remain with Doncaster for the remainder of the season.
