Jones the Rovers hero

Doncaster Rovers made it a club record twelve away games unbeaten in one season with a late late show at Stevenage.

Rovers were starting life without manager Dean Saunders, who fled the nest last weekend for the bright lights of Wolverhampton.

Brian Flynn and defender Rob Jones took charge of their first game whilst the Rovers board decided on his successor and it was captain fantastic Jones, who secured the three points with a winner deep into stoppage time.

Stevenage looked like spoiling Rovers chances of writing their names into the clubs history books when James Dunne fired the hosts ahead halfway through the second half with an unstoppable shot from 25 yards.

Rovers have shown their battling qualities on the road this season and a never say die attitude, something that has seen them unbeaten away from home since September 1st.

It was once again in abundance, as first Iain Hume brought Rovers level with eleven minutes remaining when he drilled home after David Syers had been denied and It was then left to Jones to earn Rovers what could be a crucial three points, with the game already deep into stoppage time, when he headed home at the far post.

The win for Rovers keeps them level on points at the top with Tranmere who won at home, beating Crawley 2-0.

It was a good afternoon for Rovers elsewhere with Brentford the only other winners from the sides starting the day in the top ten.

Rovers will now prepare for a home clash with Leyton Orient next weekend
