Doncaster Rovers and Newcastle United shared a 2-2 draw at the Keepmoat with the magpies coming from two-down to earn a draw with a last minute equaliser.

Doncaster suffered four injury setbacks during the game with Joe Wright being forced off in the first half, Harry Middleton and Craig Alcock both being stretchered off and Joey McCormick leaving the field with a shoulder injury in the second half.

Doncaster went ahead on 18 minutes when last season`s leading goalscorer Andy Williams scored from the penalty spot after John Marquis had been brought down by Matz Sels.

Newcastle looked for a way back into the game in the first half and Doncaster keeper Ross Etheridge did well to deny Adam Armstrong when the striker got in behind the Doncaster defence.

Etheridge did well again to deny Mitrovic on the stroke of half time and almost immediately, Doncaster went up the other end and forced a corner. From the resulting corner, Williams headed home to score his and Doncaster`s second goal of the night.

Isaac Hayden brought Newcastle back into the game early in the second half when his shot was deflected past substitute goalkeeper Marko Marosi.

Moments later, Marosi did well to keep out Armstrong.

Newcastle were applying the pressure and Ayoze Perez saw his effort come back off the post.

Marosi was again in great form to deny Dwight Gayle with just ten minutes remaining.

Doncaster had to play the final minutes of the game with ten-men following the injury to McCormick and Perez equalised for Newcastle in the final minute of normal time in what proved to be a bad night for Doncaster.
