Martin Woods lost out to Sylvain Ebanks-Blake in the FourFourTwo goal of the year competition.

Each Football League club had to initially pick what they thought was the clubs goal of the year for 2008.

Martin Woods sublime chip against Nottingham Forest on Boxing was nominated has Rovers choice.

The voting for the goal of the year was initially voted for by viewers of Sky Sports Soccer AM show.

Woods made the final five and voting took place for the winner at the FourFourTwo Football League awards dinner on Sunday night.

Sylvain Ebanks-Blake`s goal which won it was some fantastic skill from a tight angle in their game against Charlton Athletic.

Although disappointed that Woods didn`t win it`s a great achievement that his goal got down to the final five out of all 72 Football League clubs.
