The Doncaster Rovers exodus looks likely to continue with Richie Wellens admitting he doesn`t expect to remain at the club after the takeover by John Ryan and Louis Tomlinson collapsed last week.

Rovers have already seen a number of trialists leave in the past week after they were expected to sign for the club on completion of takeover last week before its collapse and the veteran midfielder, in his second spell with the club, is now expecting to move on. Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Wellens said, ‘It is probably the end for me and the club.

‘It’s disappointing really because I showed my loyalty by coming back here last summer when I had other options.

‘I agreed to stay more or less straight after the season finished even though I didn’t want to play in League One because I thought they could have a good go.”

Wellens arrived at the Keepmoat last summer and after signing a short-term deal, he extended his stay by an extra eighteen months in January.

The 34-year-old made 37 appearances for Rovers last season and he was an influential figure in Rovers midfield.
