Former Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper Ben Smith has signed for League Two side Shrewsbury Town in a two year deal.

Smith has enjoyed a successful trial during pre season at Shrewsbury after being released by Rovers at the end of last season.

A number of clubs was also reportedly chasing the 23 year old from higher divisions.

Smith made just 15 appearances for Rovers during a four-year stay with the club and enjoyed his best spell in the side during the 2006/07 season.

He made his final appearance for Rovers in the final game of last season at Swansea City when he produced a man of the match performance in a 0-0 draw at Swansea City.
