Former Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper Ben Smith is currently having trials with League Two side Shrewsbury Town.
Smith was released by Doncaster at the end of last season after making just 15 appearances in four years for the club and is currently a free agent.
Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner, speaking on BBC Radio Shropshire said, ‘We need another keeper, whether that’s Ben or someone else.
‘He’ll be working with the squad, so we and [new goalkeeping coach] Paul Gerrard can take a good look at him.’
The 23-year-old made just one start for Doncaster last season, in the final game at Swansea where he kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw; his performance earned him a place in the Championship team of the week for his efforts.
