According to reports on the BBC website Doncaster Rovers midfielder Dean Shiels has signed for Kilmarnock on loan.

The BBC report that Shiels has joined up with his dad Kenny, and will remain at Rugby Park until January.

Shiels played no part in Rovers final pre season game at Grimsby Town on Friday night and it would probably explain his absence.

The 26 year old has struggled to hold down a regular starting place at the Keepmoat since signing from Hibernian in 2009.

Last season Shiels made 35 appearances for Rovers with 18 of those coming from the substitute`s bench.

The Scottish Premier League kicked off last weekend with Kilmarnock earning a point in a 1-1 draw at Dundee United.
