Doncaster Rovers striker Billy Sharp is looking forward to some extra work during the international break and a return to full fitness.

Sharp suffered ankle ligament damage on the opening day of the season at Brighton, ruling him out for seven weeks and despite playing eight times since his return he feels he is still not 100% fit.

Speaking in the Sheffield Star, Sharp said, “With it being the international break I`ve got a bit of time now to do a bit of extra work in training and to also rest my body.
“When you come back after a long-term injury you often have other little niggles and it can be hard to shake them off. But I`m hoping to be 100 per cent fit for the Barnsley match.”

The striker has finished as leading goalscorer at the Keepmoat in the last two seasons and despite missing seven weeks he is once again leading the way with four goals, having netted three times in eight appearances since his return.
