Doncaster Rovers manager Dean Saunders has admitted that he has had Altrincham striker Damien Reeves watched.

The 26-year-old striker netted 45 times in 44 games in all competitions this season for the Blue Square conference North side.

Despite his goalscoring exploits that saw him score in ten consecutive games, Altrincham could only finish the season in eighth place.

In the previous season he managed 19 goals in 46 appearances as Altrincham were relegated from the Blue Square Premiership.

Speaking on the official website, Saunders said, “I’ve watched Reeves, who is an interesting player.”

Reeves is based in Doncaster as a self-employed plasterer having spent his time in non-league football after being released by Leeds United in 2006, where he suffered a bad break to his leg that interrupted his career.

Since leaving Leeds, he had a spell with Farsley Celtic, where he netted 23 times to help the Yorkshire club gain promotion to the Blue Square Premiership.

Despite Celtic making an instant return to the Blue Square North, he netted 14 times in all competitions.

He then had short spells at Histon Town, Telford United and Alfreton Town before signing for Altrincham in the summer of 2010.
