Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders says he would like to keep Fabien Robert at the club.

Robert joined the club on loan in January for the remainder of the season from French side Lorient.

The 24 year old made 13 appearances for Rovers and he ended the season as a regular in Saunders side.

Saunders has a number of players out of contract this summer and as well as Robert he is interested in retaining the services of other players as he prepares for life in League One next season.

Speaking on the official website , Saunders said, “I’d like to get Fabien and a few of the others back if possible.’

Despite Rovers eventual relegation, Robert finished the season well for Rovers, netting twice in the clubs last four games.

Robert has struggled to break into the Lorient side in the French First Division and he has made just five appearances in the past two seasons.

Fabien is the younger brother of Lauren Robert who spent five years with Newcastle United at the turn of the century.
