Doncaster Rovers manager Dean Saunders said it was the best the side have played in their win at Nottingham Forest since his arrival at the club.

Rovers beat Forest 2-1 at the City Ground to move off the bottom of the championship table and to within three points of their opponents.

Frederic Piquionne scored a superb opening goal on his debut just before half time and Kyle Bennett doubled the lead early in the second half.

It was Saunders seventh win in twenty-seven games since his arrival and he admitted it was the best.

Speaking on the official website , Saunders said, “It is the best we have played since I have been here, we controlled the game and we moved the ball around brilliantly.”

The win was Rovers first win in nine games since beating Barnsley at the Keepmoat on January 2nd.

It was a crucial three points for Rovers to stop Forest pulling away from them at the foot of the table and much needed with tough games at West Ham on Saturday, before a home game against inform Reading at the Keepmoat on Tuesday night.
