Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan is targeting a top ten finish for the club when they return to the championship next season.

Rovers are returning to the championship after just one season back in League One, clinching the title on the final day.

The chairman says it is possible if the club can work stringently in the summer transfer window. “I`d be delighted with a top ten finish and this can be achieved with the right players brought in to add to what we`ve got,” he told The Doncaster Free Press.

“One thing is for sure, the new players will have to want to sign for Rovers and not just be coming for a meal ticket.”

Rovers previously spent four seasons in the championship with a highest finish of 12th in their second finish.

A top ten finish for the club would be only the second time they would have achieved the feat in their 134-year history. The only other occasion was in their first season in the Football League in 1901/02 when they finished seventh.
