Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan is predicted a good season for the club.

Rovers finished fourteenth in their first season back in the Championship last year and Ryan would like to see the club pushing for a promotion place.

Speaking in the Sheffield Star Ryan said ‘Everyone is saying that just because we are Doncaster Rovers that we should be looking at the bottom end of the table, but I don’t believe that. I think that we are a quality side and we should be looking at the top – why not a play-off spot?”

This is despite the fact Rovers have lost one of their key players (Richie Wellens) and are on the verge of losing another (Matt Mills) after the club agreed a deal with Reading for his services.

Rovers have so far only brought in Quinton Fortune the former Manchester United defender/midfielder on a short term deal.

Rovers kick off the season on Saturday with an away trip at Watford.
