Doncaster Rovers youth team have lifted the Football League Youth Alliance Cup after a 4-0 win at Exeter City.

Jordan Ball put Rovers ahead with a first half header from a James Husband free kick.

Husband was again the provider early in the second half when Captain Brett Lucas headed his corner in.

Ball scored Rovers third with just under a quarter of the game remaining when he headed home an Evan Finnegan cross.

Substitute Joshua Meade put the icing on the cake when he made it four in the closing minutes of the game.

The win finishes of a successful season for the youth side after finishing runners-up to Hull City in the North East section of the league they defeated the Tigers to reach tonight`s final.

They also came close to pulling off the result of the FA Youth cup this season.

Finalists Chelsea who won the first leg of their final 4-0 last week, narrowly defeated Rovers 2-1after Rovers had taken an early lead.

After a disappointing season for the first team, it is good to see the youth set up looking so strong.

Doncaster line-up
Maxted, Davison, Finnegan, McCormick, Wakefield, Lucas(c), Mullen, Middleton, Ball, McMahon, Husband

Substitutes:
Peterson, Meade, Binns, Whincop, Busby
