Doncaster Rovers are keen to extend the stay of on loan defender Joseph Mills.
The left back has impressed since joining on loan from Southampton in time for the home game with Derby last month.
His one month loan deal at the club will come to an end after the weekend trip at Portsmouth and boss Sean O`Driscoll is hoping to keep him longer.
Speaking in the Star, O`Driscoll said, ‘If there is an opportunity to keep him here a bit longer, we’ll try and do it. But he’s Southampton’s player and it depends on what they want to do.
Mills is currently out injured with an ankle injury but is also keen to extend his stay, Mills also speaking in the Star, said, ‘It is not up to me; it is up to the two managers.
‘I’m just waiting to see what happens. If the manager at Southampton is happy to let me stay here, and I’m still playing, I’d like to stay on.
‘At my age, and at this stage of my career, I need to be playing competitive football and Doncaster are offering that and I am really happy here.’
The 21 year old had started all four of Rovers games since his arrival before missing the midweek trip to Burnley.
With fellow left back George Friend still sidelined into the New Year as well as defenders Adam Lockwood and James Chambers currently on the injury list Rovers are short of numbers at the back.
