Doncaster Rovers are trying to lure Stephen Hughes to the club after he was recently released from Motherwell.

According to reports in the Doncaster Free Press Sean O`Driscoll is ready to try and tempt the out of contract midfielder to the Keepmoat .

A number of clubs are chasing the signature of the experienced 26 year old who started his career at Glasgow Rangers making over ninty appearances for the Glasgow giants.

The Scottish under 21 international then moved on to Leicester City making almost 100 appearances between 2005/2007.

Hughes then returned to his native Scotland and made over sixty appearances for Motherwell before being released this summer.

Rovers are looking to fill the gap left by Richie Wellens move to Leicester City last week.

Favourites to sign the midfielder are Scottish Premiership side Hearts of Midlothian.
