Doncaster Rovers have been boosted by the news that striker Billy Sharp is ahead of schedule in his fight to regain full fitness.
Sharp suffered a tear to his hamstring in the recent victory over his former club Sheffield United and he was expected to be out for a minimum of six weeks.
The sides leading goalscorer has had the injury rescanned this week and as been given the good news that the tear is healing quickly and he should hopefully be back within a month.
Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll does not want to rush his record signing back into the side, speaking on the official website, he said, “He’s had one or two different types of treatment and hopefully he will be jogging before the end of the week. We don’t want to rush it but touch wood; it is looking more like four rather than six weeks out at the minute.’
Rovers have brought in experienced striker David Healy this week from Sunderland on loan for a month to cover for Sharp.
