Doncaster Rovers are making a bid to keep hold of leading goalscorer Billy Sharp.
Sharp has been given permission to speak to Leicester City after the foxes triggered a clause in the striker`s contract allowing him to talk to another club.
Rovers are desperate to keep hold of Sharp, who has scored ten times in eighteen appearances this season and major shareholders John Ryan and Dick Watson are willing to bankroll a deal to make Sharp the highest paid player in the clubs history, keeping him at the club for a further two and a half years.
There are a number of other clubs also rumoured to be interested in taking Sharp away from the Keepmoat.
Premier League sides, Stoke City, Wigan Athletic and West Brom have all been linked as have championship pace setters Southampton and West Ham.
Sharp is the clubs record transfer fee having signed from Sheffield United for £1.15 million in the summer of 2010 after enjoying a successful season long loan.
The 25 year old has finished as the clubs top scorer in his two full seasons at the club and as now netted 41 goals in 84 appearances.
